The second half of March is marked by active interactions in foreign policy and numbers of meetings in Tashkent. In particular, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Commander of the United States Central Command James Mattis. The 20th session of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) was carried out. Information about"Discussion Ñlub"The “Discussion Club” was organized by the Center for Political Studies in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) on April, 2010 and hosted its first session on October, 18th, 2010. The club is created for the further development of the Uzbek independent analytical school and expansion of its communications with the leading foreign expert centers and institutions that are known in the world for their public and political activities, as well as for formation and preparation of basic tools for an open expert dialogue on the basis of contemporary geopolitical, economic, social and military-political topics. MissionThe main goal of the “Discussion Club” is to create in Uzbekistan a constantly operating platform for discussion of progressive ideas and concepts in the field of political and economic analytics, presentation of the key intellectual trends prevailing in the modern scientific and expert environment. Establishing professional dialogue between foreign and Uzbek experts should become a basis for generating new views and ideas, in order to influence, both theoretical and practical levels on the development of politico-economical school of Uzbekistan and promote its wider occurrence in the global intellectual space. Carrying FormatThe key component of the “Discussion Club” will be a lecture by a specially invited expert, a prominent representative of the international organization, counselor of prominent political and economical structures, researcher or public figure. Board of DirectorsManagement of the “Discussion Club” and definition of its strategy is carried out by the Board of Directors, containing the Chairman of “Discussion Club”, the Main chief executive director and permanent councilors of Directors. Board of TrusteesA Board of Trustees of the “Discussion Club” can accept well-known experts, public and scientific figures, politicians and the sponsors that provide the effective and valuable help in the organization of Club’s works and implementation of its aims and ideas on a constant basis. Founders and ContributorsA founder of the “Discussion Club” is the Center for Political Studies (Tashkent, Uzbekistan). Practical realization of events and their financing is carried out in the partnership with sponsors (the Uzbek and foreign companies, the international organizations, funds and institutions). MembershipThe member of the “Discussion Club” can become Uzbek and foreign experts, experts in various areas of economy, politics, social sphere and culture, scientists, representatives of the ministries and departments, PhD/candidates, post-graduate students, the Uzbek and foreign companies, representatives of the international organizations, diplomatic representatives of foreign countries and mass-media. Four types of membership are provided: individual, students, corporate and honorable. First three types of membership can be acquired on commercial basis. Different employees who have got a corporate membership can partake in the “Discussion Club” depending on their professional interests. A membership card will be given to Members of the “Discussion Club”. Honorary MembershipHonorary membership is given to foreign lecturers and selected partners of the Center for Political Studies, famous Uzbek and foreign visitors-participants of the “Discussion Club”. Honorary members are awarded with “the Sign of the Honorary member of DC”, «the Certificate of the Honorary member of DC» and permanently valid club card. Listeners with discount A possibility of visiting events within the framework of the “Discussion club” on grant basis is given to talented young experts. 5 places are allocated for each session. Privileges of MembershipThe member of the “Discussion club” gets access to a number of privileges, including a constant reception of the bulletin « Uzbekistan & Central Asia» and other special printing materials of the Center for Political Studies, the invitation to events, conferences and the forums organized by CPS and its partner organizations in Uzbekistan (events of Fund Forum). Informational activityWith the purpose to highlight the results of works and popularization of the “Discussion club”, in the end of the year it plans to issue a collection and publish materials from the lectures to magazine «Uzbekistan & Central Asia» and on the website of CPS, and also provide with electronic mailing to the partner organizations and experts of the Center for Political Studies. Educational activityThe establishment of a special center for the training of analysts in the field of politics, economics and sociology is provided within the framework of the “Discussion Club". The center will also specialize in conducting special trainings for Uzbek and foreign students with participation of well-known local and international experts, politicians, representatives of research centers and institutes. Exclusive Meetings, Briefings and PresentationsThe format of the “Discussion club” considers a possibility of organizing of various briefings and the meetings with known politicians, economists which are on a visit to Uzbekistan, and public figures with representatives of a national expert community. Moreover, cooperation with the authoritative international organizations and scientific communities in the field of presentation of innovative projects and ideas are provided. Annual AwardsThe given event is aimed at the encouragement of politicians, economists, public figures and representatives of scientific circles who in the last years have brought a considerable contribution to the development and strengthening of cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan. It plans to provide rewarding Ceremony of «the Person of year» in the various nominations connected with adjustment of bilateral interstate relations, with the contribution to the development of economic and public relations etc. Representatives of business circles, international and public organizations, embassies can participate in “Annual Awards”. Thereby, they will have an opportunity to have a dialogue with the invited visitors. Such kind of events will be informed in advance. The event will be taking place once a year in the autumn.
