The conference discussed issues related to the development of new ideas in the field of logistics and management: strategies of companies to attract freight flows; specificity of the work with shippers; assessment of economic prospects of major economies and international transport; attraction of investment into the transport sector of Central Asia.
Particular attention was paid to the ongoing efforts of Uzbekistan in the development of regional transport infrastructure, particularly in the context of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov’s initiative on creation of the transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar.
It was noted that through this corridor, countries of Central Asia will have access to one of the most attractive markets of the Persian Gulf, which has more than 5 billion from the total annual imports.
Participants stressed the importance of Uzbekistan’s steps in the development of transport corridor through Afghanistan. First of all, construction of the railroad Hairaton – Mazar-e Sharif will become a significant contribution of Uzbekistan into the economic revival of its Afghan neighbor.
Measures related to operation and expansion of potential of Free Industrial-Economic Zone in the city of Navoi (FIEZ) which is designed to become a regional strategic hub of logistics to ensure efficient freight flow in the directions North-South and East-West have been discussed in the framework of the conference.
Taking into account that the theme of transportation is closely linked to aspects of economic development serious discussions were revolved around the issue of future global economy. It was noted that the rapid development of Asia becoming a major catalyst for the stabilization of the global economy, which, of course will have a beneficial impact on the world freight exchange, and on the transit of transport services across the Central Asian countries.
During the conference, representatives of leading logistics companies and hubs in Europe and Asia shared their experiences. They highlighted key positions of the strategies to improve efficiency, including through innovations within the conditions of increasing competition for freight flows.
