Center for Political Studies in assistance of the UNDP Office in Uzbekistan and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized training workshop on "Development of analytical skills and methods of work with analytical documents" in August 21-24 2006.
One of the vital activity components of the Center is based on holding scientific seminars, workshops and other courses for affiliated organizations and individuals to develop a political culture, conflict negotiations and other aspects of political and public activities.
In this framework in August 21-24, 2006, Center together with the UNDP Office in Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan arranged an outdoor workshop on "Development of analytical skills and methods of work with analytical documents".
Taking into consideration significance of training experts issue in the field of political analysis and the areas of foreign policy, the analysis of the current situation of international relations, economic development, etc., Center for Political Studies took a task of making contribution to the improvement of scientific potential of Uzbekistan.
The opening speech made by the Deputy of the Center for Political Studies S. Rustamov together with the Resident Representative of UN Fikret Akcura. Mr. Rustamov underlined the main goals of the seminar: to upgrade the skills of diplomats and relevant individuals in other areas of international activities and testing the concept of continuous learning. The key components of the event were:
• Work with the data processing skills and analysis
• The focus is on practical international scale
• Launching this practice into learning process of expert preparation
• The possibility of organizing similar trainings on a frequent basis
The workshop included skills improving of data gathering, processing and analysis, the preparation of analyses. Furthermore, it was focused on the theoretical basis of processing informational and analytical work acquaintance with modern methodology in the various fields (political science, conflict resolution, political psychology, etc.), new conceptual theories and approaches to the problems of fundamental and applied political analysis.
It was attended by CPS experts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan staff, as well as scholars from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of Uzbekistan.
Lectors and trainers were brought in from Russia with relevant experience in scientific as well as for practical reasons:
Degtyarev Andrey Alekseyevich – Professor of Political science faculty at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the MFA of Russian Federation
Tambovtsev Vitaliy Leonidovich – professor of faculty of Economy at Lomonosov Moscow State University
Osadchiy Yevgeniy Veleorovich – Head of human rights and compatriot ties department at Historaical perspective Fund, International committee consultant on international relations at The State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Meshcherin Andrei Nikolayevich – Chief Editor of analytical magazine “Neftegazovaya Vertical“
Gwaskov Petr Adolfovich – political analyst, Institute of military sinologists
The course dealt with topics such as :
• Principles of applied political analysis. Raising of political and analytical tasks " (A.Degtyarev)
• Technology and methodology for the analysis of international interaction in a variety of situations of political life (in the case of international relations in the Asia-Pacific region and Central Asia, of the PRC and Russia), as well as the information component of modern foreign and domestic policy "(P. Gwaskov)
• Energy markets prospects for the complex, modern, political, international relations "(A. Meshcherin)
• Current state of the global economy. Trends in Development "(V. Tambovtsev)
• Double standards in politics" (E. Osadchi)
Moreover, partakers also discussed a variety of issues of the current international policy. Group simulations were operated with a sight to make practical recommendations for the challenges and problems in a discussion paper.
