A number of important developments in the foreign policy of the country were held in the first half of January. In particular, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress Chen Zhili and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Hee-tae. The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan also held meetings with heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Tashkent. 03 January 2012 11:31

In particular, representatives of Japan, Finland, USA, France had a meetings in the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The National Adult Education Forum was organized in Tashkent with the support of UNDP, as well as the meeting of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan at the Oqsaroy residence. An international conference «Alternative methods of dispute resolution as a way of protecting the legitimate interests of individuals and legal entities», the fifth session of cooperation forum «Republic of Korea – Central Asia» which were held in Tashkent can particularly be noted. In addition, a meeting with the UK Assistant Chief of Defense Staff Graham Howard was held in the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan. |

Recent developments in Tunisia and Egypt through expanded mass-protests have highlighted the Middle Eastern agenda in several key states of the region. It gradually affected such states as Yemen, shattered the situation in Algeria, significantly influenced a social atmosphere in Jordan and strengthened the support of newly arrived government in Lebanon. At this stage, it is interesting to analyze how the situation will evolve in the Middle East in the background of political crisis in such a strategically important state as Egypt.
The first decade of February was characterized with an unstable situation in the world oil market. As noted by some analysts, lately there are some processes linked with the sharp competition increase in the oil market, the main actors of which are state and private oil companies.
