A number of important developments in the foreign policy of the country took place in the second decade of November. The National Adult Education Forum was organized in Tashkent with the support of UNDP, as well as the meeting of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan at the Oqsaroy residence. In addition, a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Uzbekistan with residence in Kiev Ion Stavila was held in the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On November 22, The National Adult Education Forum was organized in Tashkent. The Forum discussed the development of adult education opportunities in Uzbekistan.
The forum adopted a document with policy recommendations for further development of legal framework, improving governance, funding and quality of adult education in Uzbekistan.
The forum was organized by UNESCO in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the Representation of DVV International in Uzbekistan, Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Ministry of Public Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, State Testing Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academy of State and Public Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Association of the Harmonious Development of Adult and Youth of Uzbekistan (AHDAaYUZ).
On November 26, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan at the Oqsaroy residence.
The visit to the country was a testament to the tremendous interest shown by the international community, especially the WHO, to changes in the healthcare system of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the status and prospects of future cooperation between Uzbekistan and the WHO.
On November 29, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Uzbekistan with residence in Kiev Ion Stavila.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of deepening inter-governmental relations, including strengthening of mutual beneficial cooperation in trade-economic sector..
